The Joint Postgraduate Studies programme (J.P.P.S.) “Conference Interpreting and Translation” was introduced in 2003 and is run by the Schools of English Language and Literature, French Language and Literature, German Language and Literature and Italian Language and Literature and School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The aim of the programme is to train interpreters and translators of modern languages to a fully professional standard and to develop knowledge and research in the field of Translation Studies.
Since 2014, the translation course is awarded the "European Master’s in Translation" (EMT) quality label.
Two courses are offered: a. Conference Interpreting or Liaison Interpreting, and b. Translation –Translation Studies. The programme is funded by the Greek state; the course in interpreting is partly financed by the Directorate General for Interpretation of the European Commission (SCIC). The programme offers the following degrees: a. Interpreting and b. Translation – Translation Studies.
